Malir is a district of Karachi division of Sindh, its was one famous for providing fruit and vegetables of highest quality, agriculture in Malir depended on irrigation by groundwater collected from well and tube well, when sand and gravel excavated from rivers bed in Malir, water tends to runoff quickly instead of in filtering the sub soil there by unable to replenish the aquifer  consequently there has been a sharp decline in agriculture activities creating poverty and unemployment in the area.
